Privacy & Cookies

About this policy

This policy explains how US Electricity System: Live and the services used to operate it may process information about visitors. The site is an independent public information project. It does not offer user accounts, comments, purchases, or a mailing list, and it does not ask visitors to submit names or email addresses through the website.

Google AdSense and advertising cookies

When advertising is enabled, this site uses Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, local storage, device identifiers, IP addresses, browser information, page URLs, general location information, and interactions with advertisements to serve, limit, personalise, measure, and protect advertising.

Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Visitors can also review Google's Privacy Policy.

Personalised and non-personalised ads

Subject to a visitor's location, consent choices, and Google account settings, Google may show personalised ads based on interests or past activity. Where personalisation is unavailable or declined, Google may show non-personalised or limited ads based on information such as the current page and general location.

Non-personalised and limited ads may still use information or storage for purposes including frequency capping, aggregated reporting, security, and fraud prevention. Visitors can manage Google advertising preferences through My Ad Center.

Google and third-party processing

Advertising requests may be processed by Google and approved ad technology providers involved in ad delivery, measurement, consent, security, and fraud prevention. The providers used can vary by region, consent choice, and available advertising demand. Google provides information about AdSense ad technology partners.

These organisations process information under their own privacy terms and retention periods. This site does not receive visitors' Google account passwords or a copy of their personal browsing histories.

Consent and withdrawal choices

Where required, including for visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, a Google-certified consent management platform is used to offer choices before personalised advertising is served. Visitors can consent, decline consent, or manage individual purposes and providers.

After advertising and the consent message are enabled, a Privacy and cookie settings control supplied by Google appears at the bottom of eligible pages. It can be used to reopen the consent message and change or withdraw a previous choice. Visitors can also clear or block cookies through their browser, although doing so may affect advertising preferences and site functionality.

Analytics, hosting, and server logs

The site is hosted using GitHub Pages. GitHub may process technical request and diagnostic information, such as IP addresses, browser and device details, requested URLs, timestamps, and security logs, to host, protect, and operate the service. See the GitHub General Privacy Statement.

The site may use aggregate traffic information supplied by its host or a configured content-delivery provider to understand overall usage and maintain reliability. The site owner does not use this information to create individual visitor profiles. If a new visitor-tracking or analytics service is introduced, this policy will be updated before it is intentionally enabled.

Retention and security

The site owner does not maintain a database of visitor accounts or direct contact details. Hosting, advertising, consent, and security providers retain technical information according to their own policies and legal obligations. Reasonable measures are used to keep the site secure, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Contact the site owner

For privacy questions or requests, contact the site owner through the project's GitHub privacy enquiry page. GitHub issues are public, so do not include passwords, identification documents, precise addresses, or other sensitive personal information. If private follow-up is required, request a private contact route without posting the sensitive details.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the site's advertising, hosting, analytics, or legal requirements change. The latest version and its revision date will remain available on this page.
